Dutasteride Dutasteride, like finasteride, inhibits the action of the enzyme 5 alpha-reductase and hence blocks the production of DHT. However, there are in fact two forms of 5-alpha reductase and whereas finasteride only inhibits one type, dutasteride inhibits both types.
